A mixer for musicians who explore outside the box.
The Passive Matrix Mixer is a creative tool designed to be an extension of your musical instruments. It features five mono channels, each with one audio input and one audio output. The rest of the magic is made possible by its less-conventional internal matrix. Every input is split and routed back to all five channels for summing.
Much like passive summing boxes used by top mix engineers, input signals are attenuated by about 12dB in the Passive Matrix Mixer and so its headroom for summing multiple sources is greatly improved. The primary benefit of our passive design is that we use a minimum number of quality components in the signal path to preserve maximum resolution with zero added noise. That allows you to work with pristine analog signals from the Passive Matrix Mixer or add your own flavor of amplification to any output in recording.
Some common uses for the Passive Matrix Mixer include splitting an electric-guitar signal to feed multiple pedal chains and summing any or all of them back together as a mono output. Musicians and sound-designers who work with modular or semi-modular synths also appreciate the splitting and summing capabilities of the Passive Matrix Mixer. Whether it’s guitar pedals, patchable synths or an obscure recording device acquired from an estate sale, the Passive Matrix Mixer allows you to easily set up feedback loops as sources on any channel or destinations for external sources, then tap the results on any other output.
The Passive Matrix Mixer conveys nostalgic charm, modern elegance and natural beauty. The hand patina-ed steel enclosure is defined by clean lines. The control plate is accented by gold highlights, knobs, and bypass switches for each, to keep the signal path minimal. The fabrication, soldering, assembly and testing are performed by our dedicated team in Montreal. We proudly offer a five-year warranty on our products.
